A look in the past

Prairie Wind Estate Inc. has rich roots that run deep into the community of Herbert, SK.  We began in 1963 under the umbrella of the Saskatchewan Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches as The Herbert Senior Citizen’s Home.

For a period of time, personal care homes were publicly funded, and in 1992 this funding was no longer available.  This caused difficulty with the operational budget for the Home and almost caused it to close.

In 1996, the name was changed to Herbert Heritage Manor and continued to operate under the umbrella of the Saskatchewan Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. Herbert Heritage Manor was a registered charity and not-for-profit organization under the direction of a local Board of Directors appointed by the Mennonite Brethren churches in Herbert and surrounding area.

Prairie Wind Estate Inc. was borne in January 2018 and is a registered charity and not-for-profit organization.  It is no longer part of the Saskatchewan Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches and is not affiliated with any one church.  The organization is built on Christian principles and is governed by a local Board of Directors.

Prairie Wind is proud of its heritage and continues to build on the solid Christian foundation that began this journey of providing safe affordable services to the seniors in our community and surrounding area.
