Culinary

Breakfast, lunch, and supper, are prepared in-house by our seasoned culinary artists (cooks!).

  • Traditional Mennonite meals are served throughout the month.
  • We provide three nutritious snacks that can be served to you in your room or in the common area.

Medical Care

Prairie Wind Estate has a reputation for excellent care.  We provide:

  • 24-hour awake care by our Care Aides who are well trained and qualified to ensure you are safe and comfortable at all times
  • an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) attending to your needs Monday – Friday
  • a Doctor with regular in house visits for check-ups

Our Care staff will handle your medications and distribute them to you according to the doctor’s orders.

Assisted Living

Assisted Living provides seniors the opportunity to continue to live independently while receiving help with some of their daily activities.

  • Individuals accessing this service must be mobile and self-directing of their own care.
  • Use of a cane, walker or even wheelchair is permitted as long as the resident is able to transfer from the wheelchair to bed, chair, toilet, etc.

Meals & Snacks
Residents are invited to join us in the dining room for breakfast, lunch, and supper. All meals are prepared in our kitchen with your dietary needs considered. A morning, afternoon, and evening snack are also offered in the comfort of your room, or you can enjoy your snack in the common area, Sunroom, or perhaps on the patio.

Housekeeping & Laundry
Housekeeping is provided to help manage tasks which may otherwise pose a challenge. Laundry services are also provided. We pick up, launder, and return your clothing. We also will help put it away if requested.

Personal Care Services
The Care Staff provide support to our residents with daily living tasks such as distribution and supervision of of medications, help dressing and undressing, as well as assistance with bathing, showering, and overall hygiene.

Government Subsidy Available
The Personal Care Home Benefit (PCHB) provides seniors, who qualify, with monthly financial assistance to help them with the cost of living in a licensed personal care home.

Respite Care

We provide temporary relief for caregivers, offering seniors a safe, comfortable, and engaging environment with compassionate support.

Respite Care

Respite care provides individuals who are caring for their loved one, or individuals caring for themselves and require short-term care, with a safe and affordable option of assisted care for a maximum of 60 days.

Individuals accessing this service must be mobile and self-directing of their own care. Use of a cane, walker or wheelchair is permitted as long as the resident is able to transfer from the wheelchair to bed, chair, toilet, etc.

Respite care is offered upon availability.

Day Program

Our Day Program offer enriching activities and social engagement, providing a stimulating and supportive environment for seniors during the day.

Day Program

Prairie Wind offers a day program that seniors can attend Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. This program offers individuals the opportunity to be part of our community by sharing lunch with our residents, taking part in scheduled activities, enjoying a time of fellowship with residents and staff, and assisted care.

This program includes:

  • Pick up and drop off in the community of Herbert
  • Lunch
  • 2 snacks
  • Participation in scheduled activities
  • Assisted care
  • Individuals wanting to take part in the Day Program must meet the criteria for assisted living:
    • Individuals must be mobile and self-directing of their own care.
    • Use of a cane, walker or even wheelchair is permitted as long as the resident is able to transfer from the wheelchair to bed, chair, toilet, etc.
